Connection From a Songwriter’s Perspective
I was approached by a stranger. He told me about his wife. She had been bedridden and in pain for months before recently dying. He said that each day they had listened to the song Come Rest Your Head. He said that they felt they knew me, that we had been together during this time.
I used to shy away from these kinds of interactions. Outwardly I’d be polite, but inwardly I felt naked and shy. Now I try to be open to this amazing moment of connection. This stranger expressed something that we both have in common on the inside. It becomes an open secret.
